Kinetic Christmas Comes Early

Justin Hobart Brown, The Humboldt Kinetic Association (HKA) and Hobart Art and Kinetics (HAAK) are very proud to announce the opening of The Kinetic Sculpture Race Museum and Hobart Galleries at its new location, 437 F Street, Eureka CA, next to the Sewell Gallery on the corner of 5th & F Streets in Eureka.
This early holiday gift is thanks to Dan and Jayne Ollivier owners of the historic Gross Building and the many other generous supporters that have come forward to make this dream possible.
Hobart Brown's original Kinetic Sculpture the "Pentacycle" is the first piece to be installed at the Museum and will be delivered to it's new home Saturday afternoon Dec 17, 2011.
Come celebrate new beginnings at the grand opening scheduled for Jan 7, 2012 Arts Alive! including an after party with live music and dancing!
On display will be Hobart's reconstructed artist studio, the Hobart Galleries art collection and Kinetic sculptures and memorabilia from 43 years of race history.
Humboldt Kinetic Association will begin accepting memberships and offering retail space for local artists and crafters to sell handmade creations. The museum/gallery plans to run as a co-op. Artists wishing to participate are invited to attend the New Beginnings party and pick up applications and information.
Current and former kinetic racers, volunteers and fans are invited to loan or donate race items including props, costumes, bribes, trophies and those historic kinetic sculptures hidden away in barns, garages and sheds to be preserved, conserved and restored.
The Kinetic Sculpture Race Museum asks the community to embrace Hobart's vision and help create a dynamic hub for not only Kinetics but also all things fun and funny.  Upcoming plans include hands-on workshops, themed art competitions, fundraising events, lectures and any other creative, inclusive ideas we can dream up!
Of course in true Kinetic spirit we are seeking volunteers and donations. We will have a wish list posted to help furnish the museum. Immediate needs include strong backs and weak minds, filing cabinets, dorm sized refrigerator and microwave, display shelving, cabinets and workbenches.
